FALL/WINTER UPDATE-Lost Lit Newsletter 2.6.23

Lots has happened since the last Lost Lit Newsletter. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, (or as my mother taught me--whenever I can't deal with grief) MAKE A LIST!

1. THANKSGIVING 2022-We celebrated twice-first with my cousins by the Jersey shore who own 88 Motel, which I highly recommended here. And then at home where Albert cooked his usual Turkey spread for us, but really for Remy!

2. CHRISTMAS 2022-We had a great Christmas with all our family traditions of Santa Remy Clause and scary Daddy Clause, Christmas tree decorating where the girls were excited to add their homemade-from-school-ornaments to my childhood ones and Christmas cookie making. For presents the girls upgraded to bunk beds and I introduced them to Barbies making sure their were Asian American Barbies along side the blond/ Rainbow haired Barbies. Albert surprised me with Lost Lit branding gifts (pillow, notebooks, pens, mugs).

3. CHINESE NEW YEAR 2023-Grumpy Bert’s Red Envelope Show had an opening reception at MyPlasticHeart, the first time in 3 years. The girls were scared but willing to feed the Lion dancers a head of lettuce for good luck. Then at school, the girls made their own art red envelopes and hung them on money trees painted by their Daddy.

4. RAINEY’S 5th BIRTHDAY-At the end of January, my youngest and last daughter turned Five-years-old. The age I’ve decided is when I got my pre-mom self back. Rainey was sooo excited to open all her presents, but then that Monday morning, she woke up throwing up. Two days sick and home from school meant Birthday celebrations would have to wait. But it happened—a prek class cupcakes party and her first big Birthday party where she invited her whole class b/c she loves everyone. Thank you Chuck E Cheese for making her dreams come true.

And that is what you call the longest shortest update in list form! Thank you for reading if you made it to the end.
